2015 - 2017, Singapore
Imagining what a sustainable food system would look like in Singapore, I coordinated a series of Farmers’ Markets in Singapore to test and probe these alternatives. Held at various locations with numerous local producer - collaborators, including Open Farm Community, Red Baron, and NTU Centre for Contemporary Arts. Side events were also organised, to cover a range of issues and methods, including food waste, urban farming participatory design methods for agri - innovation, and locavorism.
Open Social Market The monthly farmers’ market at Open Farm Community, sought to introduce lesser known local producers and artisanal makers in Singapore in the open - air, lush venue of Dempsey Village. There was a range of outdoor activities for members of the public to enjoy, such as yoga, public cinemas, and gardening workshops and farm tours.
Gillman Barracks Farmers’ Market Held at Red Baron, Gillman Barracks, the monthly farmers’ market aimed to celebrate all things fresh and local. A curation of Singapore farmers, food vendors and music, for a weekend morning of food, farm, and conversations at this urban venue. There were regular community gardening sessions to share and cultivate gardening knowledge amongst urbanites.
